How to Measure Your Shoe Size and Calf Size

My journey to finding the perfect fit.

Hi! I’m Kayla Reagan, LifeStride’s marketing manager. As someone with a wide calf, I know how hard it is to find the right fit. A lot of brands seem to only offer wide calf boots and wide width shoes in some of their more basic styles, so it’s nice to see that LifeStride has such an impressive collection to choose from!

I used to purchase standard boots and try everything to stretch out the shaft, from spraying with rubbing alcohol to steaming and stretching. There’s nothing worse than a boot that’s too tight and gives my leg muffin top! LifeStride’s wide calf options are a game-changer.

I’m all about “measure twice, buy once”! Here’s how I measure my calf to find the perfect fit:

How to Measure Your Calf

STEP 1: MEASURE

Standing with your feet on a flat surface, wrap a tape measure around the widest part of your calf. Repeat on your other calf.

Step 2: Find Your Fit

Using the measurement of your larger calf, refer to our sizing chart to find your calf width.

Also remember, styles with built-in stretch panels like the Bristol boot will give you extra room in the calf versus full zipper styles, which can be less forgiving.

In addition to measuring your calf, it’s just as important to make sure you can find the right shoe size and width! I love that LifeStride offers sizes from 5-13 and four widths so everyone can find the just-right style and fit. Here’s how I measure:

How to Measure Shoe Size and Width

Three quick and easy steps to shoes that fit and feel better.

Step 1: Find Your Fit

Stand on a piece of blank paper and trace a line around the edges of one foot.

Step 2: Measure Length + Width

Use a measuring tape to measure the longest part of your foot on the page. Next, measure the widest part of your foot.

Step 3: Find Your Fit

Repeat steps 1 and 2 using your other foot. Using the measurements of your larger foot, refer to our sizing charts to find your shoe size and width.
